Bio:
Four-year starter who played three positions during his Penn State career. Started 12 games in 2017 after being hospitalized due to an undisclosed injury and missing the end of the 2016 campaign. Began his junior season at left tackle and started five games before moving to the right side for the next four. Played left guard and right tackle in 2015. Made nine starts at left guard as a redshirt freshman.
Pos:
Hard-working small-area lineman with excellent size. Effective with his hands and stays square. Turns defenders from the action and seals them from the play. Bends his knees, works to block with leverage and plays with intelligence.
Neg:
Only effective in a small area, exploited by quickness and speed and struggles to adjust. Heavy-footed and ineffective blocking in motion.
Analysis:
Mahon is a big-bodied lineman who gets the most from his ability but must play in a phone booth and comes with limited upside.
