Bio:
Two-year starter who caught nine passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns as a senior. Missed most of the 2016 season due to a foot injury. Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and made 33 receptions for 428 yards and three TDs as a sophomore.
Pos:
Athletic tight end prospect coming off a disappointing senior campaign. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and stays square. Gives effort blocking and plays through the whistle. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and protect the pass as a receiver, displays quickness and moves well about the field.
Neg:
Displays marginal strength as a blocker. Unnecessarily lets passes get inside him on occasion.
Analysis:
Lingen was graded as a potential late-round pick after his junior season but failed to improve his game last year, in large part due to injuries. He possesses the size and skill to line up as a third tight end in the NFL if he’s able to stay healthy and produce.
