Bio:
Four-year starter who made 19 tackles and broke up five passes as a senior. Posted 48 tackles (four for loss), two forced fumbles and 11 pass breakups in 2016. Made 31 tackles with 10 PBUs as a sophomore. Started three games in 2014 before aggravating a preseason shin injury and missing the final nine games, then broke his leg during a December practice. Tied for third in the ACC with five interceptions as a true freshman and added 27 tackles and eight pass breakups.
Pos:
Once-highly rated cornerback who watched his game regress the past three years. Physical and explosive. Mixes it up with receivers throughout routes and beats down opponents to defend the pass. Works hard to make plays against runs and screen passes, displays solid awareness and has a nice move to the action. Effectively diagnoses the action, quickly closes on the ball and brings opponents down in the open field.
Neg:
Slow getting his head back around to locate passes in the air. Cannot stay on the receiver’s hip out of breaks. Very inconsistent the past two years. Has a long injury history.
Analysis:
After his freshman campaign, Facyson was pegged as the next top defensive back prospect from the Virginia Tech program, but injuries slowed his development. He has the size and skill to line up in man coverage but will struggle to have a career at the next level if he continues his inconsistent play.
