Bio:
Three-year starter who was named First Team All-America and led the ACC with 10 sacks and 25 tackles for loss while adding three forced fumbles as a senior. Earned Second Team All-ACC honors after leading NC State with 10 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss in 2016, adding 57 tackles and three forced fumbles. Made 69 tackles (12 for loss) with 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles as a sophomore.
Pos:
Highly decorated defensive line prospect with immense upside for the next level. Rarely off his feet, plays with proper pad level and works his hands throughout the action. Athletic, chases the action hard and covers a good amount of area on the field. Moves well laterally in pursuit and bends off the edge. Forceful defender who creates turnovers. Displays the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack without losing momentum. Effective with his hands and knocks blockers back with explosive hand punch. An overpowering force. Splits double-team blocks to get penetration and creates turnovers.
Neg:
Inconsistent getting off the snap with a quick first step. Occasionally late with his hands. Must do a better job protecting his legs from blocks.
Analysis:
Chubb is an athletic and intelligent player with an intense attitude. He offers possibilities in a variety of defensive systems and is a Day 1 starter with big upside.
