Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-ACC and made 57 tackles (5.5 for loss) with three sacks, three pass breakups and one forced fumble in 2017. Posted 39 tackles (two for loss) with one sack, three pass breakups and one forced fumble as a junior. Tallied 50 tackles with a career-high 11.5 tackles for loss and added 3.5 sacks and three PBUs in 2015. Started five games as a true freshman and made 39 tackles (6.5 for loss) with 1.5 sacks.
Pos:
Productive and durable defensive tackle with big upside. Athletic and easily moves about the field. Plays with proper knee bend and good pad level. Explosive at the point, fires off the snap with a terrific first step and shows good change of direction with the ability to slide down the line of scrimmage in pursuit of the action. Effective with his hands, nicely plays off blocks and gets a good amount of momentum going up the field. Effectively defends the run and makes plays behind the line of scrimmage.
Neg:
Presents himself as a first-step lineman who lacks strength in his base. Gets pushed off the line and handled by a single opponent. Despite his athleticism and first step, he’s just a marginal pass rusher.
Analysis:
Hill has been a consistent defensive tackle for North Carolina State since his freshman season and does the little things well. He comes with big upside and needs only to improve his overall playing strength to complete the package.
