Pos:
Large, powerful ball carrier who comes off a career season. Finished the year with 1,449 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 13 games last year. Displays outstanding vision, patiently waits for blocks to develop and effectively follows them everywhere on the field. Plays with a nasty attitude, breaks multiple tackles to pick up yardage off initial contact and fights hard on every carry. Displays good short-area quickness and works hard to run around defenders, as much as he likes to run over them. Carries defenders for yards at a clip to pick up extra yardage. Grinds it out on the inside and uses an effective straight arm to keep plays alive. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield. Terrific blocker who picks up assignments and easily controls opponents at the point of attack. Carries the ball with good intelligence, picks and chooses his spots on the inside and consistently finds running lanes.
Neg:
Lacks great quickness. Not a creative runner or someone who will make defenders miss. Lacks the speed and agility to turn the perimeter. More of a one-speed athlete.
Analysis:
Snell is a three-down back who lacks great speed and quickness but does the little things well. He'll be an effective No. 2 ball carrier at the next level and can run between the tackles, catch the ball out of the backfield and block.
