Bio:
Three-year starter named Second Team All-Mountain West in 2016 after making 108 tackles (two for loss). Recorded 68 tackles (four for loss) and three interceptions as a junior. Make 62 tackles (three for loss) with two sacks in 2014. Made six starts as a redshirt freshman and tallied 89 tackles (four for loss) and one sack.
Pos:
Hard-working linebacker with limited size and athleticism. Aggressive, quick up the field and fires through gaps defending the run. Sells out to make the play, squares into ball carriers and wraps up tackling. Breaks down well, shows ability in zone coverage and flows well laterally to the action.
Neg:
Small and cannot get off blocks. Lacks great pursuit speed. Occasionally overpursues the action and takes himself from plays.
Analysis:
Weaver is a try-hard prospect with limited upside and athleticism. He must stand out on special teams this summer to have any chance of making a practice squad.
