Bio:
First-year starter named Third Team All-Big Ten as a senior after posting a career-high 106 tackles (15.5 for loss), 4.5 sacks and two pass breakups. Academic All-Big Ten as both a junior and a senior.
Pos:
Tough, run-defending linebacker coming off a career season. Instinctive and smart and remains disciplined with assignments. Quickly locates the ball carrier, shows fluidity scraping laterally and works hard. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself and plays faster than his 40 time. Quickly changes direction, works hard to get to the action and is effective stopping the run. Takes good angles to the play.
Neg:
Engulfed by blockers or gets caught up in the trash. More of a two-down defender who doesn’t get great depth on drops.
Analysis:
Gedeon is a prototypical two-down defender who can be used at middle linebacker in a conventional system or on the inside of a 3-4 alignment. He lacks great upside but will play at the next level if properly coached.
