Projected Round
Graduate transfer from Purdue who took over as Florida’s starting quarterback in 2016, throwing for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns with seven interceptions. Started four games for Purdue in 2015, totaling 1,260 passing yards and eight touchdowns while adding four scores on the ground and throwing eight interceptions. Made seven starts as a sophomore in 2014, throwing for 1,449 yards and 10 TDs with 11 INTs.
Purdue transfer who was a solid college quarterback. Patient, buys time for receivers and identifies the open wideout. Knows where receivers are on the field, spreads the ball around and gets outside the pocket to make the throw on the move, keeping his eyes downfield. Goes to the safety outlet if nothing else is available. Tough, sits in the pocket and takes the big hit in order to get the throw away.
Indecisive under the rush. Sprays passes on occasion. Usually misses high of his mark. Average arm strength.
Appleby was a solid game manager on the college level but struggled mightily against quality opponents like Alabama in the SEC title game. He possesses solid size and could find a spot as a team’s third quarterback.
