Bio:
Three-year starter who earned Third Team All-MAC honors and led Western Michigan with 98 tackles (6.5 for loss) while adding three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and three pass breakups as a senior. Named Second Team All-MAC and recorded 95 tackles (8.5 for loss), two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception in 2016. Earned Third Team All-MAC honors and led the team with 103 tackles (three for loss) while posting one sack, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and five PBUs as a sophomore.
Pos:
One-time highly rated defender who comes off a disappointing season. Athletic, explosive and covers a lot of area on the field. Breaks down well, quickly changes direction and shows terrific speed in pursuit of the action. Agile and fluid flipping his hips in coverage. Shows the ability to slip blocks, quickly finds the ball carrier and squares into tackles.
Neg:
Lacks a physical nature and often makes tackles after the fact. Doesn’t play with a sense of urgency. Played hesitant last season.
Analysis:
Although he lined up at outside linebacker for Western Michigan, Brown possesses the athleticism and movement skills necessary to transition to strong safety. He has good upside but must pick up his intensity to make a next-level roster.
