Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-SEC honors and led Texas A&M with four interceptions while making 87 tackles (10 for loss) with two forced fumbles and five pass breakups in 2017. Recorded 56 tackles (six for loss), two interceptions, one sack, two forced fumbles and three PBUs in nine games as a junior before missing the final four contests with a leg injury. Led the team with 126 tackles (six for loss) and added one interception, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups in 2015. Made 59 tackles with a team-high three INTs and tied for the team lead with eight PBUs as a true freshman.
Pos:
Stout safety who plays physical football. Aggressive, displays an explosive closing burst and plays with outstanding awareness. Fast both in a straight line and laterally, explodes to the ball out of his plant and displays a good head for the game. Constantly around the action, fires up the field to defend the run and wraps up tackling. Gets vertical and contorts in pass defense.
Neg:
Does not display top-level recovery speed. Late to react to opponents off the snap when placed over the slot receiver.
Analysis:
Watts possesses next-level athleticism and the ability to line up in a zone system or as a strong safety but must improve the consistency of his game and learn to do the little things properly.
