Bio:
Two-year starter who was suspended for the 2017 season for a violation of team rules after being involved in an alleged credit card fraud scam with several other Gators players. Was cited for marijuana possession in May of 2017. Led Florida with 54 receptions and 721 receiving yards in 2016 and tied for the team lead with three receiving TDs. Led the team with 678 receiving yards on 35 catches as a true freshman and matched the team lead with four scores through the air while adding two punt-return touchdowns.
Pos:
Incredibly athletic and explosive receiver with a litany of off-field issues. Fluidly releases off the line of scrimmage, quickly gets to top speed and shows burst. Contorts and adjusts to errant throws, extends his hands and grabs the ball from the air. Plays fast football, displays himself as a vertical threat and effectively runs reverses. Competes to come away with receptions and gets vertical to grab the ball at its highest point.
Neg:
Has a bit of a thin build and struggles in battles. Displays inconsistent hands. Not a smooth route runner. Off-field issues have continually hampered his development.
Analysis:
On the field, Callaway displays himself as a lethal slot receiver who can double as a return specialist. Off the field, immaturity is an issue and the prime reason why Callaway won’t be drafted. He needs to stay clean and earn the trust of an NFL team but has outstanding upside.
