Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team All-MAC honors and led Ball State in sacks in each of his final three seasons. Tied for the conference lead with five forced fumbles as a senior and made 51 tackles and a team-high 16.5 tackles for loss with 11.5 sacks. Named Third Team All-MAC and posted 24 tackles (10.5 for loss), 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2016. Recorded 15 tackles (5.5 for loss), five sacks and one forced fumble as a sophomore.
Pos:
Fluid, hard-working pass rusher with next-level measurables. Breaks down well, plays with proper pad level out of a three-point stance and smoothly moves in every direction of the field. Chases down the line of scrimmage, gets outside the box in pursuit and makes a good number of plays in space. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, shows quickness and can bend the edge and even push back offensive tackles to create mayhem behind the line of scrimmage.
Neg:
Lacks bulk at defensive end and gets engulfed by opponents. Possesses average playing speed. Marginally effective in backside pursuit.
Analysis:
Winbush was a productive collegiate pass rusher but lacks size and speed for the next level. He could line up as a nickel rusher if he plays well on special teams this summer.
