Bio:
Junior college transfer who started both of his seasons at Weber State. Earned Second Team FCS All-America honors and led the team with 61 receptions and 773 receiving yards while catching five touchdowns in 2017. Named Third Team FCS All-America and led Weber State with 62 catches, 840 receiving yards and seven TD catches as a junior.
Pos:
Nice-sized tight end who displays himself as a consistent pass catcher. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage into pass routes, displays solid playing speed and makes difficult receptions with defenders draped on him. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, adjusts to errant throws and displays both soft and strong hands with the ability to pull the ball from the air. Runs solid routes, quickly gets into breaks and separates from defenders. Finds the soft spot in the defense. Reliable pass catcher. Keeps his head on a swivel as a blocker and always looks for someone to hit.
Neg:
Displays marginal strength as a blocker and does not get results. Has a thin build and will struggle in contested situations at the next level.
Analysis:
Vollert is an athletic prospect who showed consistent improvement and offers possibilities as a move tight end at the next level. He needs to improve his strength but comes with upside potential.
