Bio:
Three-year starter who earned First Team FCS All-America honors and was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year. Led James Madison with 15.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks and added 59 tackles and two forced fumbles in 2017. Earned First Team All-CAA honors as both a sophomore and a junior. Made 44 tackles (six for loss) with 3.5 sacks in 2016. Led the conference with five forced fumbles and recorded a team-high 11 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks with 56 tackles in 2015. Made 18 tackles (3.5 for loss) with 3.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman.
Pos:
Hard-working defensive end who projects to outside linebacker. More athletic than his computer numbers, moves fluidly about the field and plays with proper pad level. Quickly changes direction, immediately alters his angle of attack and pursues laterally with decent speed. Moves well in every direction, shows the ability to make plays in space and wraps up tackling.
Neg:
Struggles to take on blocks. Lacks great pursuit speed.
Analysis:
Ankrah is a solid 3-4 linebacker prospect, but he comes with physical limitations. His ability to rush the passer and play in space could help him catch on as a backup.
