Pos:
Fast-rising left-tackle prospect with starting potential at the next level. Sets with a wide base, works to bend his knees and keeps his feet moving. Makes outstanding use of angles and body positioning to protect his quarterback. Quickly gets his hands into defenders, easily rides them from their angles of attack and stays square. Patient, fundamentally sound and intelligent blocker with great vision. Keeps his head on a swivel, picks up blitzes well and effectively sees the field when on the move. Shows the ability to adjust and recover and plays through the whistle. Fires out to the second level, redirects to linebackers and knocks them from their angles of attack.
Neg:
Steps off the edge when he should slide. Overextends into blocks on occasion. Must improve his strength as a run blocker.
Analysis:
Dillard showed tremendous progress the past two seasons and turned in a terrific campaign in 2018. He then performed well at the Senior Bowl and was brilliant during the combine. He's the best left tackle in this year’s draft, has immediate starting potential at the next level and will be chosen much earlier than people presently project.
