Bio:
Three-year starter who was named First Team All-MAC in his final two seasons at Central Michigan. Led the team with eight pass breakups and made 44 tackles (four for loss) with three interceptions as a senior. Finished first in the MAC with 15 pass breakups and led the team with four interceptions while making 48 tackles in 2016. Recorded 43 tackles, one interception and seven PBUs as a sophomore.
Pos:
Nice-sized cornerback who flashes skill. Instinctive, effectively reads and diagnoses the action and has a nice move to the throw. Fluid pedaling in reverse and shows the ability to stay on the receiver’s hip out of breaks. Aggressive and quick up the field to defend screen passes and running plays. Lays his shoulders into opponents and drives through tackles. Displays a sense of timing and anticipation, flies around the ball and works hard to make positive plays.
Neg:
Possesses an average closing burst and marginal playing speed. Not a tall corner.
Analysis:
Coleman was a very productive college cornerback, although he comes off a somewhat disappointing senior campaign. He possesses the ball skills and instincts to line up in dime packages at the next level and comes with a special-teams mentality.
