Junior college transfer who started seven games as a redshirt junior in 2016. Rushed for 596 yards and nine touchdowns and caught 40 passes for 392 yards and four scores. Racked up 698 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground in 2015, making 34 catches for 291 yards and three receiving touchdowns while adding a punt return TD. Started his career by redshirting at Alabama in 2013 before transferring to Hutchinson Community College.
Unrefined skill player with a high upside. Runs with balance, flashes power in his ball carrying and squeezes through the small openings of the offensive line. Consistently keeps the play in bounds trying to pick up positive yardage, displays solid playing speed and runs with an aggressive style. Quick-footed, shows good vision and effectively uses blocks. Keeps his feet moving, breaks arm tackles and picks up yardage off initial contact. Outstanding pass catcher out of the backfield who makes the difficult reception in contorted positions. Displays a lot of natural receiving skills, extending his hands then snatching the ball away from his frame. Helps the quarterback sell ball fakes. Used to return punts.
Does not show a creative nature in his running and has a tendency to run into piles rather than avoid them. Lacks great perimeter speed and agility. Has a thin body of work and never truly established himself as a feature starter at Tennessee or Alabama.
Highly rated in some circles, I view Kamara as a terrific situational runner with the potential to develop into an every-down ball carrier. His pass-catching skills put him ahead of the curve but he still needs a lot of work on his ball-carrying skills.
