Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors as both a junior and a senior and led Iowa State in all major receiving categories in each of his last three seasons with the Cyclones. Made 71 receptions for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns and earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl in 2017. Posted 69 catches for 1,018 yards and seven TDs in 2016. Named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2014 and 2015. Caught 56 passes for 807 yards and six scores as a sophomore. Made 45 receptions for 593 yards and three scores as a true freshman.
Pos:
Tall, productive possession receiver with minimal speed and quickness. Plays with tremendous awareness, consistently finds the open spot on the field and always works to make himself an available target. Comes back to the ball, extends his hands and plucks passes from the air. Nicely adjusts to errant throws and looks the ball into his hands. Plays with balance, exposes himself to big hits to come away with receptions and takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Effectively uses the sidelines and displays focus and concentration. Solid blocker when necessary.
Neg:
Lacks a quick release off the line of scrimmage and shows no burst. Occasionally takes his eyes off the ball, which leads to drops.
Analysis:
Lazard was very productive at the college level and came up with clutch receptions during the game’s biggest moments. His lack of quickness makes it difficult for him to separate, but his awareness and ability to win out for contested throws gives him an edge.
