Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and made 52 tackles (eight for loss) with six sacks as a senior. Was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and posted 23 tackles (3.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 2016. Started three games during his first two seasons at Wisconsin and combined to make 25 tackles (3.5 for loss).
Pos:
Hard-working defensive lineman with poor size. Plays with leverage and a nasty attitude and attacks opposing ball carriers. Keeps his feet moving, easily changes direction and chases the action hard. Works his hands throughout the play, pursues outside the box and gets down the line of scrimmage to make plays. Uses all his assets to their maximum.
Neg:
Lacks size and struggles getting off blocks. Easily controlled at the point. Despite his speed, presents himself as a small-area lineman.
Analysis:
James is a hard-working lineman who makes plays based on hustle and intensity. His quickness, ability to play with leverage and change-of-direction skills will get him consideration as a three-technique tackle.
