Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors and led Eastern Washington with 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks while making 51 tackles and forcing one fumble in 2017. Posted 61 tackles (six for loss) and five sacks as a junior. Missed the entire 2015 season with a knee injury after moving from linebacker to the defensive line. Started two games and made 26 tackles as a sophomore. Recorded 61 tackles and one forced fumble as a true freshman despite playing off the bench.
Pos:
Hard-working but marginally athletic defensive lineman with limited upside. Breaks down well, effectively uses his hands and displays good change of direction. Moves well laterally to make plays down the line of scrimmage, rarely gets knocked off his feet and plays with outstanding balance. Uses all his assets to their maximums and plays smart, instinctive football. Displayed improved strength last season.
Neg:
Struggles against the run. Lack of height is an issue, as he’s blocked down on by opponents. Lacks pursuit speed and gets easily out-positioned by blocks.
Analysis:
Havili is a high-effort, hustle defender with physical limitations. He’ll be signed after the draft but his ability to make a next-level roster will solely depend on his special-teams production this summer.
