Two-year starter who earned First Team All-GLIAC honors after his sophomore and junior seasons. Transferred from the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, where he played basketball. Finished his senior year with 57 receptions for 867 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Tremendous tight end prospect with a well-rounded game. Displays terrific blocking vision and strength at the point and presents himself as a tough, nasty blocker. Squares into opponents then dominates defenders and effectively blocks at the second level. Solid pass catcher, effectively tracks the deep pass and gets vertical or contorts to grab the errant throw from the air. Consistently extends his hands and snatches the ball away from his frame. Plays big football but at the same time is smart and finds ways to separate from defenders. Easily makes the reception in stride and consistently catches with his hands. Keeps the play in bounds running after the catch and plays faster than his 40 time.
Dominated at a low level of competition. Occasionally lets catchable throws slip through his hands. Average quickness and really doesn’t show burst in his game.
Shaheen offers tremendous size and has the game film to back it up. He’s a well-rounded tight end who may never be a true downfield threat but has all the makings of a three-down player at the position.
